100+ report pages distilled into one tool
4 SCRUM sprints to shipped prototype
1 mayoral endorsement

01 overview

The City of Delft commissioned a project to communicate the impact of its 2040 expansion plan , 15,000 new homes and 10,000 new jobs. The original impact analysis was a 100+ page technical document that municipal stakeholders and residents struggled to engage with. As part of the design team, I helped turn that report into an interactive, reactive dashboard where users could adjust housing and jobs variables and immediately see cascading effects across mobility, infrastructure, and amenities. The work spanned design strategy, the visual system, high-fidelity prototyping, and user research across four SCRUM sprints, culminating in a city expo and an endorsement from the mayor.

02 responsibilities

  • Ran user research with municipal stakeholders to surface decision-making needs
  • Designed the core interaction model , a single-focus visualization driven by reactive variable inputs
  • Built high-fidelity prototypes in Adobe XD covering every dashboard state and flow
  • Defined the visual system: purposeful color coding tied to data magnitude across categories
  • Designed the notification center that flagged interdepartmental conflicts in real time
  • Contributed to four SCRUM sprints, the implementation report, and the final city expo materials

03 key results

  • Mayor Marja van Bijsterveldt endorsed the dashboard as essential for responsible decision-making
  • Demonstrated successfully at the city expo with strong stakeholder engagement
  • City committed to a follow-up 3D virtual model built with third-party developers
  • Translated a 100+ page technical report into an interface accessible to non-technical audiences
